The bell rings out for recess
And a chill runs down my spine
It’s a well know fact that children
Are not always divine
I don’t find it too bad, teaching them in class
But going out on duty
My nerves shatter like glass

Duty time is the worst time of my day
Why do they bother me like this?
Why can’t they go away?
I am walking ‘round the yard
Enjoying the morning sun
Why do they bother me like this?
Why do they spoil my fun?

This one has a big bruise
And that one has a bump
This one’s nose is bleeding
And he gave her a thump
He called me a rude name
My Ball’s out on the street
She always follows me around
This duty has me beat

Go and get and icepack
And bring that boy to me
Don’t throw stones
And don’t chuck sand
And play more carefully
I’ve told you not to climb that tree
And not to be so rough
Please don’t pick on the little kids
Enough’s enough
